IBC fuel tanks are an ideal solution for earthmoving contractors, forestry operators, and other professionals who require mobile fuel storage. An IBC container provides a high-quality and safe solution for the transport and storage of fuel oil, diesel, and other flammable liquids by road, rail, or sea. IBC tanks can be equipped and customized to meet specific customer requirements, and each unit is supplied with all required certification and documentation. All products are manufactured in Finland at our own production facility.
Tukes-Approved UN-Certified IBC Containers
TankkiTuomiset Oy’s IBC containers are approved by Tukes (the Finnish Safety and Chemicals Agency). All tanks are supplied with UN type approval and storage tank approval in accordance with applicable regulations.
In addition, TankkiTuomiset Oy is an inspection body approved by Tukes for the periodic inspection of IBC transport containers used for dangerous goods. We also provide inspection, testing, and maintenance services for IBC tanks.
More Information About IBC Tanks
- The IBC container is approved by VTT’s Dangerous Goods (ADR) Inspection Body.
- The UN type-approved tank complies with the requirements for the transport of dangerous goods classified as 31A IBCs. IBC containers can be used for road, rail, and sea transport both in Finland and internationally.

Transporting Fuel as Packaged Goods
When transporting fuel by road, only IBC containers, tank containers, and transport tanks approved in accordance with dangerous goods transport regulations may be used. Depending on the quantity being transported, smaller volumes of fuel may be carried in approved packaging ranging from canisters to IBC containers.

IBC Regulations Changed on 1 July 2011
“An IBC container, or Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC), is a transportable packaging unit that may resemble a tank in appearance but is classified as packaged goods for transport purposes. The requirements for IBCs differ from those applied to tanks in terms of design, approval, and use. The maximum capacity of an IBC for fuel is 3,000 litres. IBCs must be capable of withstanding handling, lifting, and transportation. In this application, an IBC consists of a metal or plastic container fitted with the appropriate structural features and operating equipment. IBC containers must undergo periodic inspections every 2.5 and 5 years by an accredited dangerous goods inspection body.” (Tukes, 2011)
